Meet Rebekah Skaggs, candidate for State Representative in Kentucky’s 97th District, at Pickin’ for a Purpose—an evening of bluegrass music, food, fellowship, and politickin’.
There is no cost to attend. We simply ask you to consider helping our local people and paws by bringing:
• Canned or nonperishable food
• School supplies
• Cat or dog food
• Winter animal supplies
• A donation to Meals on Wheels in Johnson, Martin, or Pike County (Make checks payable to the center for $60.00. This donation helps feed one senior for an entire month.
Donations will support local schools and Family Resource Centers, food pantries, senior citizens, and the Johnson County Animal Shelter.
Come meet Becky, listen to some Bluegrass music, enjoy a fun community evening, and help our neighbors—both our two-legged and four-legged friends!

The Kentucky Apple Festival in Paintsville, Johnson County, takes place from October 1–3, 2026.
Originally started to celebrate the local apple harvest in Johnson County, the Kentucky Apple Festival has grown into a massive annual autumn tradition that transforms downtown Paintsville into a lively street fair every first weekend in October. Celebrating its 62nd year alongside America's 250th anniversary, the official theme for 2026 is appropriate and nostalgic: “As American as Apple Pie.”

The 30th Annual Martin County Harvest Festival takes place on September 18 and 19, 2026, in downtown Inez, Kentucky.
Celebrating 30 years, this two-day community event features live music, carnival rides, food and craft vendors, a parade, professional wrestling, hayrides, pet shows, and family activities.

Johnson joined up with Floyd and Pike County Democrats during Pike County's Hillbilly Days to distribute information about local democratic candidates.
